PRONOUNCING THE REGULAR PAST TENSE “ED”

Sound practice /t/    (p,k,f,s,sh,ch,x)
It is used when the present tense ends in a voiceless consonant such as stopped, kicked, laughed, wished, fixed, talked, watched
Sound practice /d/     (b,g,v,m,n,l,r,ng,mg)
a)      It is used when the present tense ends in a voiced consonant such as robbed, dragged, waved, called, designed, used, banged
                                      (ay,oy,ie,ow,ee,aw)
b)      It is used when the present tense ends in a vowel sound such as played, enjoyed, died, showed, freed, sawed, studied
Sound practice  /ed/
It is used when the present tense ends in “t” or “d” such as in wanted, needed, decided, waited, depended, attended
